Sifu James Peterson
Fifth Generation Disciple of
Wong Fei Hung
Sifu James Peterson began his martial arts studies over 25 years ago. He began with Judo as a young boy and then successively trained in Karate, Northern Shao Lin, Shuai Jiao and his chosen art, Hung Ga Kung Fu.
James earned his Jo Gow (Black Belt) in 2000 and went on to earn his Sifu Level as well as become a Yup Sut (In The Room) Disciple of Sifu Pedro Yee. James has performed with Sifu Pedro Yee, both nationally and internationally, including a performance at the Wong Fei Hung Memorial Museum in Fo Shan, China, where he demonstrated forms, Lion Dance and fighting applications. Also, in 2004, James received his 9th Deng (Black Belt) in Shuai Jiao under Master Peter Chema - adopted son of Grandmaster Chang Dong Sheng.
Over the years he has also competed in numerous national and international tournaments, consistently earning top placements in forms, weapons, Shuai Jiao and fighting. In 1998, James was ranked 5th internationally at the Mayor's Cup Shuai Jiao tournament in Paris, and in 2002, James won 1st place in Full Contact Lei Tai Stage Fighting at the United States Chinese Kuoshu Federation's International Tournament.
